I'm Brent Ivan

          I was named Brent because my mom finds that name cute and she thought it was the best name that should be given to someone like me. The name Ivan came from Tito Jhe's name “Evan”. The name Brent means “a kind of bird that migrates to other country” and Ivan means “a warrior”. My whole name was given by my mom with the approval of my whole family. Tonjing, Brent, Ivan are special nicknames they call me. According to my Mom I look like her. Am I?

The World Around Me

          August 8, 2006 , year of the fire dog, was just an ordinary day. People are at work, school and at different places. Everyone was busy. During that time, there were lots of talk about around the world. In our country, the headlines of news caught the attention of busy people. The hottest news at that period of time were the fight won by Manny Paquiao, the unpredictable eruption of Mayon Volcano and the controversy against our president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and her family. Sarah Geronimo was one of the popular entertainers as an actress in her teleserye “Bituing Walang Ningning” and as a singer. The popular hosts were Kris Aquino of “Deal or No Deal” and “Pilipinas Game Ka Na Ba?” and Willie Revillame of “Wowowee”. The popular songs were “Dahil Ikaw” and “Sabihin Mo Na”. The weather condition was rainy.

Mom's Cravings

          During pregnancy my mom's favorite was potatoes. Julian of “My Girl” and Marian of “Forbidden Love” were my Mom's favorite foreign celebrity who are both from Korean novela translated into Tagalog. Surfing the internet about babies was my Mom's interest. My Mom's favorite songs were “High” by Speaks and “Wherever You Will Go” of The Callings

Preparations for My Arrival

          It was not until I was born when my Mom finalized her decision as to what name she would give me. The suggested names were Clarence John Ivan, Brent, Matthew, Ivan, Gian, Gerald and Prince Gem. In the end, she chose the name Brent Ivan. My room's color are light blue and light green. My grandparents' gift to me was my clothes. The first toy bought for me was a kleng-kleng given by Tito Jo.
